Keri Hilson Dances Azonto in Nigeria

Grammy award winning artiste, Keri Hilson has arrived Nigeria. She flew into the country at about 5:20pm (Nigerian time). In her entourage of about 15, were her bodyguards, aides, back-up dancers and singers.
She was in Abuja as a guest star for the Face of Sofa (with Keri Hilson in concert) event,  this weekend at the International Conference Centre in Abuja. The event also featured popular Nigerian acts including, DJ Jimmy Jatt, W4, Omawunmi among others.
She Also treated her fans to her azonto dance....lol

Rebel group advances in eastern Congo, witnesses say, nearing regional capital

A Congolese rebel group advanced within four kilometers (2.4 miles) of Goma in the violence-riddled eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday evening, according to eyewitnesses, threatening to take the strategic capital of the region.

Heavy fighting has been reported in recent days as rebel groups battled the Congolese army and U.N. soldiers.

A relative calm on Sunday morning in Goma was broken by fighting close to the town and airport.

"Some government officials and diplomats have fled to Bukavu (in eastern Congo) and across the border to Rwanda," said a journalist in Goma who did not want to be named for his own security.

U.N. Forces in the region of North Kivu said that they deployed attack helicopters and ground troops to respond to the M23 advances on Goma.

FBI updates its most wanted terrorists list, adds Alabama man believed to be in Somalia

The FBI on Wednesday placed Omar Shafik Hammami, formerly of Alabama, on its list. Officials believe Hammami is a senior leader in the Somalia-based terror group al-Shabab, which has links to al-Qaida. He faces charges in Alabama of providing material support to terrorists. The FBI also added to the list a Filipino man who officials say is the head of a local terror group and was involved in the 1993 kidnapping of an American in the Philippines.

The FBI says Omar Shafik Hammami has been a senior leader in the terror group al-Shabab. Officials believe Hammami moved to Somalia in 2006 and joined the group, later designated by the State Department as a terrorist organization.

From Somalia, Hammami has taken on the role of jihadi lecturer and Islamic scholar. After U.S. Navy SEALs killed al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in 2011, Hammami threatened at a news conference near Mogadishu to avenge the killing. Hammami faces charges in the U.S. of providing material support to terrorists. The FBI created its "Most Wanted Terrorist" list a month after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Also last week wednesday, the FBI added an Afghan man to its list of people about whom the bureau is seeking information. The FBI wants to talk to Shaykh Aminullah because of his ties to the Pakistan-based terror organization, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba. Officials have no information about Aminullah regarding specific planning of attacks on Americans, FBI spokeswoman Lindsay Godwin said. Aminullah has not been charged in the U.S. with any crimes. In 2009, he was placed on the Treasury Department’s list of designated terrorists, blocking any assets he has in the U.S. and banning Americans from doing business with him.

Nigeria Exxon spill spreads for miles along coast

An oil spill at an Exxon Mobil facility offshore from the Niger Delta has spread at least 20 miles from its source, coating waters used by fishermen in a film of sludge.
According to Reuters, several parts of Akwa Ibom state saw a rainbow-tinted oil slick stretching for 20 miles from a pipeline that Exxon had shut down because of a leak a week ago. Locals scooped it into jerry cans.
Mark Ward, the managing director of ExxonMobil's local unit, said a clean up had been mobilized, and he apologized to affected communities for the spill.
Exxon said last Sunday it had shut a pipeline off the coast of Akwa Ibom state after an oil leak whose cause was unknown.
"This is the worst spill in this community since Exxon started its operations in the area," said Edet Asuquo, 40, a fisherman in the Mkpanak community, as women scooped oil into buckets. In some marshy areas, plants were poking out of the slick, not yet dead and blackened by the oil.

Senator Abubakar Olusola Saraki is Dead!!!!

Abubakar Olusola Saraki is a Nigerian politician and tribal nobleman who was a Senator of the Nigerian Second Republic (1979-1983). He currently serves as the Waziri of the Ilorin Emirate. He was Born on 17th may 1933 in Ilorin Kwara State Nigeria.

His mother was from Iseyin in Oyo State and his father was from Ilorin. His paternal ancestors were Fulanis who came from Mali about 150 to 200 years earlier. He was educated at Eko Boys High School. He attended the University of London, and St George’s Hospital Medical School, London. He worked as a medical officer at the General Hospital, Lagos and the Creek Hospital, Lagos.
He first entered politics when he ran in the 1964 parliamentary election for Ilorin as an independent, but failed to win. After the election, he returned to his medical practice in Lagos, only returning to party-politics in 1978/79.
Senate career

In 1977, Olusola Saraki was elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly that produced the 1979 constitution. In 1979 he was elected a Senator of the Second Republic, and became Senate Leader. In 1983 Saraki was re-elected into the Senate on the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) platform.
Subsequent Career
in 1998, Olusola Saraki became a National Leader and member of the Board of Trustees of the All People's Party (APP), contributing to the APP success in Kwara and Kogi States. He assisted Mohammed Alabi Lawal in becoming Governor of Kwara State. In 2001 he was head of a team from the Arewa Consultative Forum, a Northern cultural and political group, sent to meet and discuss common goals with Northern state governors and other leaders.Later Saraki switched allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and in the 2003 elections supported his son Bukola Saraki as candidate for governor of Kwara state in April 2003, and his daughter Gbemisola R. Saraki as senator for Kwara State Central in April 2003.
In March 2003, the Societe Generale Bank (SGBN) of which Saraki was chairman was investigated by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for alleged money laundering.Later, SGBN was investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under Nuhu Ribadu, and its license was temporarily suspended.

Death
Senator Abubakar Olusola Saraki Died on the 14th of November 2012, exact time of death not yet confirmed. He was aged 79.

African Union Support Mali in the War Against Terrorists

According to CNN a summit of African leaders approved a proposal Sunday to send 3,300 troops to Mali to help evict Islamic radicals who have taken control of that country's northern territory. But a spokesman for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) says more steps are needed before any troops are deployed.

"ECOWAS has adopted the concept of operation for a military force," spokesman Sunny Ugoh told CNN by phone. "This will now be presented to the African Union Peace and Security Council, and from there, to the United Nations Security Council. Within the context of implementing resolution 2071, the troop size will increase and will require the participation of other African countries."

United Nations Resolution 2071, adopted on October 12, demanded that armed groups cease human rights abuses and humanitarian violations in northern Mali.The final communique from the summit in Nigeria says the ECOWAS nations continue to prefer a negotiated settlement with the Islamic rebels, but "recourse to force may be indispensable in order to dismantle terrorist and transnational criminal networks that pose a threat to international peace and security."

Nigeria will provide a Majority of the Military forces, and would be supported by Niger and Burkina Faso and the proposed one year mandate would begin after a vote by the United Nations in coming weeks.

Drogba and Katongo lead nominations for African Player of Year

Didier Drogba, the man who scored Chelsea's first ever European Champions League triumph, leads the nominations for Africa's Player of the Year award.

The striker's winning penalty in a dramatic shootout against German giants Bayern Munich was his last strike of the ball for the English club, with whom he spent eight seasons.

Drogba, who is a huge star back in the Ivory Coast and is credited with a Major role in ending the country's civil war, now plays for Shanghai Shenhua in China.

Also on the list is Christopher Katongo, who led Zambia to a maiden Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) victory earlier in 2012, as they beat Drogba's Ivory Coast in the final.

The minnows stunned the continent as they triumphed at the finals, hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, and Katongo was named player of the tournament
