London-Really?? Does the President Not proofread his statements before they go public, I mean, this is a speech that was read to the whole world on Television.
Yes There are claims that it was a mistake or an error. Although In every presidency or Government, there are people with different Responsibilities. whoever was responsible for the editing of that speech should be seriously cautioned or even fired.
However, This is not to undermine the fact and truth that a lot is been done to tackle corruption in Nigeria since the Advent of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as well as the Independent Corrupt Practices commission, with recent exposures of the pension scam and fuel subsidy scam, any rational Human being would agree that the Presidency Has indeed made efforts to curb this cancer that has gone deep into the cells of the country. The president has been lately seen as incompetent contrary to public opinion as at when he was elected into office, but if we truly look at the spate of events that has made it almost impossible for him to successfully govern Nigeria, we can Conclude that he is indeed making efforts.
The most important thing in this situation is the essence of the message. As a president he is suppose to trust his speech writers and editors to be competent and to avoid such silly errors as claiming that Nigeria is the next best alongside the U.S.A in fighting corruption, and also the fact that they knowingly clearly stated that Transparency International endorsed this is just unbelievable . But in this cases, people have claimed that they do not see this as a mistake but as a sabotage ploy to discredit a powerful speech one of the best the president ever made. Take away that error the speech was enough to ruin the hopes of political opponents. The truth will be made Known to the General Public soon we hope...
